7KON Take a sip from the dark side - October 2011

n the run up to Halloween, 7KON entered a Halloween Smoothie Competition in the First News Newspaper - you may have seen copies of this newspaper in the Learning Resource Centre. The competition was run by the Innocent Smoothie company and the task was to decide what the ingredients would be in the smoothie, come up with a name and a slogan, design the packaging and advertise the smoothie with a poster.
7KON came up with some really imaginative ingredients for their 'Butchered Banana and Bat Berry' smoothie, like Ferocious Dragonfruits and Frankenlimes. Their poster was also really impressive with the catchy slogan 'Take a sip of the dark side'. They narrowly missed out on the first prize - £1000 for school equipment - but they did come runner up. Coedcae School visit 'The Wave'.
Pupils from Year 10 and Year 8 visited 'The Wave' Radio station as part of a Radio Scholarship Program; these pupils had the chance to gain first hand experience in knowing the work involved in being a Radio DJ.
Pupils had the chance to record a 30 second advert promoting the Schools 'Open Evening' which was played live on air on "Siany's Total Request show".
These pupils also recorded a live 30 minute show delivering thier own news, travel and sport updates along with the music to go in the show.
On the day, pupils were split in to two groups and had a 30 second advert each as well as a 30 minute show.
