‘Learning for Life’ encompasses our Personal, Social education programme. Each academic year we breakdown our timetable for one day per half term, and introduce our pupils to a progressive programme of personal and social education from years 7 to 11 with multi agency partnerships.
The programme allows our pupils to experience enrichment through specialist teaching. Both staff and pupils engage in activities, tasks and fieldworks that reach far beyond the ‘normal’ school day.
Throughout Key Stage 3 pupils participate in a curriculum ranging from induction to secondary school, financial management, heritage and multicultural events, health, sports and well being in addition to their rights and responsibilities, mini enterprise schemes, career paths and technological evolutions. It’s a busy schedule and there’s never time to stop!!
At Key Stage 4 we encourage pupils to engage in a range of team building activities, further enterprise schemes, financial responsibilities as well as health and well being. In addition pupils plan for the future with university taster days, mock interviews, demoracy day and local community participation.
All in all, it’s an extremely active curriculum that boasts a plethora of opportunities for our pupils with ‘hands on learning’.
To supplement the ‘ L4L ‘ programme further discrete personal and social education occurs co-incidentally during standard curriculum hours , with compulsory RST and PE at key stage 4.
