Year 7 PPM - Mrs. S. Roberts
We currently have 170 pupils in Year 7. This year pupils have come from the following Primary schools:

• Pentip

• Bryn
• Old Road

• Bryn Teg
• Swiss Valley
Year 7 Lessons
The pupils are split into eight classes of mixed ability; they are set for Maths and Welsh lessons. Year 7 are taught Skills lessons for nine lessons a week. These lessons consist of English, Geography, History and Religious Studies. The subjects are taught through a skills based curriculum with a focus on the development of literacy. A pupil’s Skills teacher is also their form tutor. The form tutor mentors the pupil and helps them set targets every half term. At Coedcae, we find that Skills lessons aid the transition process and improve pupil confidence.
Rewards
All pupils have the opportunity to gain merits. They can do this by showing good behaviour and good effort in class. Every half term pupils are entered into a prize draw and have the opportunity to win prizes based on the amount of merits they have accumulated. Prizes range from:
• Stationary
• Passes for the dinner queue.
• Vouchers
We also reward good attendance, where the form with the highest attendance receives a prize.
Extra Curricular Activities
Year 7 are encouraged to participate in all areas of school life. We currently have pupils involved with the Coedcae Radio Station, the School Council, after school clubs, lunchtime clubs, and the school magazine ‘Coedcae Shouts.’ A large number of Year 7 are also involved in our successful sports teams.
Year 7 Pastoral Support Assistant
At Coedcae every year group has a pastoral support assistant, they contribute to the successful running of their year groups. The PSA for Year 7 is Mrs Julie Latham. Mrs Latham doesn’t have the restrictions of a teaching timetable. So, when I am unavailable Mrs Latham is able to assist.
