PE Department
Work within the Physical Education Department is designed to support and contribute to the aims of the school by providing access for all pupils to a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum.
Physical Education aims to provide an enjoyable and satisfying programme with opportunities for every pupil to develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. The Physical Education curriculum offers a full range of learning experiences to meet the needs of individual pupils and encourage active involvement as performers, observers and officials.
The well structured and developmental schemes of work provide for progression, challenge and a sense of achievement. The selection of learning experiences appropriate to pupils needs aims to support and pupils in the development of physical competence and promote those skills necessary to plan and evaluate movement safely and confidently.
Through active participation in a variety of roles within all activities covered, pupils will be encouraged to appreciate their own and others strengths and weaknesses and develop tolerance, a sense of fair play and good sporting behaviour.
It is intended that the programme offered, together with an awareness of leisure opportunities within the local community, will develop skills and attitudes contributing to involvement in an active and healthy lifestyle.
